The Pampered Chef

This weekend I am hosting a Pampered Chef party at my home (if you're interested in attending or see something you can't live without let me know!). I was very excited to see that they are carrying some really cute items in honor of breast cancer awareness month.

Here are my 2 favorite items:

Think of all the times that you could use these adorable items! Of course The Pampered Chef has TONS more of glorious stuff that I'd love to fill my kitchen with - check it out for yourself: {http://www.pamperedchef.biz/lynnsimmons}.

Adopting August

I realize that my last few posts have gotten far off the topic of this blog, but it's mine and, I'm sorry, but I can do that sort of thing if I want.

A friend of mine referred this blog to me several months ago and I have been following it since then. This is a young couple who made the decision to adopt before they tried to concieve a child of their own. They are in the VERY home stretch and are still short on the funds needed for paying for their baby. I'm posting the link to their newest post here where they are selling prints of Steven's photography for $35.00. It is good stuff for a good price for a great cause. It is definitly worth the visit. {http://adoptingaugust.wordpress.com/2008/09/22/im-selling-prints-to-raise-money-for-our-adoption/}

Desiderata

I know that this really doesn't fit the overall feel of this blog, but sometimes I need a reminder of the truly important things.

Go placidly amid the noise and haste and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others; even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism

Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul

With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy
